There is no bad time to put out birdhouses, best time to put them up is as soon as you have them available. Even if it is not nesting season, birds may investigate the house, learn where it is, and possibly use it as shelter. If you only want to provide houses for nesting, putting them up in late winter or very early spring will ensure they are available for even the earliest nesting species.

Most birds, especially bluebirds love meal worms, consider placing a meal worm feeder near your bluebird houses to attact the bluebirds.

The bluebird houses with tin roof are handcrafted using rough sawn cedar. Rustic in appearance, this cedar bluebird house is also painted with Sherwin William’s exterior country blue paint. We apply a primer and then 3 coats of paint.  Each birdhouse get an exterior UV protective clear coat finish on top of the painted wood and the tin roof.

The cedar is naturally weather and rot resistant. Tin is used for the roof which allows the bird house to last nearly forever! I have many of my bluebird houses in my garden area mounted to a pole for over 14 years now and they still look great!

The bird entry hole is designed especially for bluebirds but you may have a wren or chickadee and other eastern or western song birds nest in this box.

Is there a way to clean out last years nest?
Each birdhouse has a flip up door to make easy clean out in lateFall or early Spring.

Happy Birding!

Michael
